MATTHEW CLAYFIELD (producer) is
a young independent filmmaker and freelance writer who doesn't much like
writing about himself in the third-person. In 2004, his short film essay Film
No. 2 (2004) was runner-up best documentary at the Gold Coast Film
Fantastic and one of his older films, Three Card Monte (2003),
was a finalist in the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards' Moving Pictures category.
In 2005, he saw one of his short narrative films, Flushed (2004),
play at the prestigious Shorts Film Festival in Adelaide. A very prolific
solo filmmaker, in 2005 alone Matthew has already completed three short
films (two narrative films and a film essay) and is currently in development
on a further four (two documentaries, an experimental film and a feature-length
drama). His writing on film has appeared in the respected online cinema
journal Senses of Cinema and he also maintains a personal weblog, which
is updated on a near-daily basis with film criticism, personal entries,
video entries and news on his various projects.
